Calan Williams has become the latest driver to graduate from Formula 3, as he joins up with Trident Racing for the 2022 season. The Australian completed testing with the team at the end of season test in Abu Dhabi.

Williams, 21, raced with Jenzer Motorsport in Formula 3 in 2021 scoring a single podium as he completed his second season at F3 level.

He now makes the move up to F2 with Trident and will debut with the team in Bahrain.

In 2021, Williams took one podium for Jenzer as he finished third at Circuit Paul Ricard, one of just three points finishes across the season. The Perth-born driver ended the season 19th overall.

Speaking on the move Williams said; "I'm extremely proud that a team so incredibly competitive and professional like Trident Motorsport welcomed me to its line-up. I worked very well with the team's staff in the last few months and in the FIA Formula 2 Championship post-season test. I have a unique chance in front of me and I will give my 100 percent to use my full potential and show my skills on track. I'm really delighted that Trident Motorsport welcomed me to the team so warmly and believed in me!"
