Williams Racing have announced that 19 year old Argentine driver Franco Colapinto will join the team’s academy, and will be joining MP Motorsport for 2023’s FIA Formula 3 campaign.
Colapinto impressed in his rookie season in F3 in 2022 as he raced with series debutants, Van Amersfoort Racing.
On the opening race weekend in Bahrain he took pole for the Dutch team, before winning the sprint race at the following round in Imola.
He took two wins and five podiums as he ended the year inside F3’s top 10, finishing ninth.
Speaking on his move Colapinto said; ''It’s a real honour to join Williams Racing as an Academy Driver. They are one of the most successful teams in Formula 1 history and I am looking forward to following in the footsteps of my fellow countryman Carlos Reutemann.''
