RACING VOICE: Daniel Guinchard romps to victory at UKC Whilton Mill

June 07, 2021

Argenti Motorsport ace Daniel Guinchard displayed incredible speed and masterclass racecraft in Junior Rotax at the weekend, with a victory at Whilton Mill in the Ultimate Karting Championship to add to his two podiums in as many weekends of the British Kart Championships.

Londoner Guinchard began his UKC campaign with the win in both his opening heats before clinching victory in both the pre-final and the final at Whilton Mill to continue one of the most successful starts to a Junior karting campaign in British history.

Daniel has been smashing lap records and winning countless heats over the last two months on his delayed return to motorsport following the continued COVID-19 lockdown restrictions. But on his return, he has already managed to secure victory at Clay Pigeon in the Wessex Championship and a podium at Shenington Kart Club, before an incredible pair of victories at the British Kart Championship from pole position in Junior Rotax - once again at Clay Pigeon - and a pre-final win and second in the final in the Junior X30 class at Shenington a week later.

Guinchard has a genuine chance to become the first driver to win in the British Kart Championships to win the Junior class in both Rotax and IAME for many years, and is looking increasingly likely to climb the ladder rapidly after an exceptional start to the season. He can also add the UKC title to his trophy cabinet if he continues to build on this epic start to the season.

"It's been an extremely positive start to the season," Guinchard told his followers on social media. "We've come away from both Rotax and IAME rounds leading the points, so it's a great start to build on."

Guinchard, who won the German national championship last season, is part of the Argenti Motorsport lineup for 2021, which is famously overseen by Ron Meadows of the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team and whose European squad currently looks after Mercedes F1 juniors Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Alex Powell and Yuanpu Cui all currently in competing in the FIA Karting European Championships. He also made his debut in OK Junior in Europe last year, and will be looking for a return at the next available opportunity. Argenti Motorsport also races in the British F4 Championship on the TOCA package alongside the British Touring Car Championship, which is no doubt an attractive step up the ladder of motorsport on the horizon.

Daniel Guinchard will continue his route to the top in 2021, and you can follow him at @DanielGuinchard1 on Instagram or keep up with his progress here on Downforce Radio, via the new Racing Voice podcast which launches in June.
