PREMA Racing will run a Mercedes Junior and a Ferrari Academy driver as their driver pairing in FIA Formula 2 in 2023 after the Italian team announced Frederik Vesti will join Ferrari’s Oliver Bearman at the team.

Vesti, 20, joined the Mercedes team from 2021 and ran backed by the team over the last two seasons with ART Grand Prix in Formula 3 and this year in F2, where he ended the season ninth.

The Danish driver previously raced with PREMA in what is now the FRECA series in 2019 and in his rookie F3 year in 2020, winning the title in 2019 and finishing second to Oscar Piastri in 2020.

British driver Bearman, 17, had an impressive rookie year in F3 with PREMA, finishing third overall and was announced by team team recently.

Speaking on Vesti, team principal Rene Rosin said; “We are delighted to welcome Frederik back. He is a quick and hard-working driver, which we already had the chance to appreciate in 2019 and 2020. We are obviously looking forward to joining forces again and seeing what we will be able to achieve together next season. With his skills and the experience he has matured, we expect him to be a contender and we are determined to support him the best way we can.”

Both driver will take part in the post season test in Abu Dhabi this week.
