Alpine driver Esteban Ocon was happy to be able to convert a 57-lap stint at last weekend's Turkish Grand Prix to a points finish whilst the rest of the grid was forced into taking a pitstop.

Ocon showed his talent and tyre management skills at the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix, with the Frenchman not making a pitstop throughout the Grand Prix- taking home a solitary point as he came across the line in tenth.

Despite narrowly avoiding being overtaken by Alfa Romeo's Antonio Giovinazzi, Ocon has become the first driver since Mika Salo at the 1997 Monaco Grand Prix to complete a race without making a pitstop.

With this tenth place finish, Alpine continue their point-scoring record of 15 consecutive races whilst Ocon's teammate, Fernando Alonso, finished 16th after contact with Pierre Gasly and Mick Schumacher on lap one.

Unlike Alonso, however, Ocon looks back on the race at Istanbul Park fondly.

"Scoring one point today does feel sweet after a challenging weekend and a very long race," Ocon said."It was good to take a risk today by going to the end on one set of tyres, which you don’t see very often.

"It was also nice to give the guys a break from doing pit-stops for the afternoon! I remember at this race last year the same could have been possible; it was difficult, but the tyres just about lasted and we have a small reward for that in the end.

"I enjoyed the fights on track out there too, we managed to muscle our way through, which was fun. One point is nice and hopefully, we can keep building for the next race."

Ocon's tenth place finish now extends his advantage over the Aston Martin of Sebastian Vettel in the Drivers Championship, leaving the Frenchman comfortably sat 11th in the standings

With the French outfit carrying out an impressive feat in their points scoring record, they will be hoping that the next race in the United States will bring their tally up to 16 in a row.
