J.K. Kelly’s Formula 1-CIA thriller “Deadly Driver” Now Available Worldwide

June 08, 2021

Following a series of positive advance reviews from America and the U.K., J.K. Kelly’s new book, the suspense-filled “Deadly Driver,” is now available around the globe in print on Amazon, as an eBook, and on Audible and iTunes.

“Deadly Driver” is Kelly’s latest thriller and sixth novel, and takes the reader on a chilling yet exciting journey on the Formula 1 circuit as American F1 driver Bryce Winters tries to outsmart the CIA, which has put a gun to his head.

Kelly’s passion for motorsports - and his work in the industry - inspired him to write his second book using racing as a backdrop. The other book, “Fuelin’ Around,” is a story of someone who followed his dream to work in the dynamic world of motorsports.

In “Deadly Driver” we follow Winters on a path that takes him from the hills and oval tracks of New England to the most exciting cities and tracks around the world. His life is one of great contrast, of incredible personal loss and professional success. He wants to break free of the agency controlling him, chase a championship, and pursue an elusive love interest with a few secrets all her own.

“Think Jason Bourne or Jack Reacher meet ‘Ford v Ferrari,’ but in Formula 1,” said Kelly.

“I loved the mixture of racing and the roller coaster mystery,” said Ron Capps, the 2016 NHRA Funny Car champion.

“Hard to put down. I enjoyed it,” endurance racing champion Hurley Haywood commented.

“More twists and turns than Monaco, making it interesting until the checkered flag…even a gateway to non-F1 fans as well,” reported AUTOSPORT Magazine.

“I am very pleased to have received such excellent reviews from icons of the book and racing worlds,” said Kelly. “I am sure that both fans of thrillers and auto racing will enjoy not only the exhilaration of the actual Formula 1 competition but how Bryce Winters skillfully attempts to evade the CIA’s grip on him. It’s also a story about family, friends, and complicated relationships.”

Information on all Kelly’s books may be found at jkkelly.com. Jim “JK” Kelly is regarded as a great storyteller by his friends and peers and in 2017 he put his passion and imagination to work in his debut novel “Found in Time” and the sequel “The Lost Pulse.”

Kelly studied Journalism and Law Enforcement in college but on many weekends in 1976-78 he pursued another passion, motorsports, and traveled from Penn State to auto races along the east coast as a freelance writer/photographer for magazines such as Super Stock & Drag Illustrated, Car Craft, and Hot Rod. He even drove to Los Angeles to cover an event only to have it delayed due to of all things – snow.

When a dream job with a NASCAR team in Charlotte, N.C., opened up Kelly moved there to work as PR Director for the Gatorade/DiGard 88 team and driver Darrell Waltrip. Kelly then spent the next 35 years traveling the world as a Regional Manager and then Director of Sales & Marketing helping to build VP Racing Fuels into the global player it is today. He wrote about his career and the success story in the popular novel “Fuelin’ Around.”
