George Grant takes tremendous triple victory at Cadwell Park

August 16, 2023

Clapham North MOT’s George Grant put in one of the performances of his career last weekend at Cadwell Park, securing the win in all three Mazda MX-5 SuperCup races. The Kingston-upon-Thames driver showed excellent pace at the Lincolnshire circuit, qualifying well before putting in a strong showing in the first race, earning 15th overall and victory in the Masters’ category at the wheel of the #69 Mazda MX-5 Mk3. That fantastic form continued into the other two races, picking up a pair of 13th-placed finishes and two more class wins, putting Grant in a strong championship position heading into the final two rounds of the 2023 campaign. To cap off a superb weekend, Grant also competed in the Mazda MX-5 Clubman Championship, racing in the Mazda MX-5 Mk1 as a guest driver, taking two further class podiums.

George Grant: “It’s one of the strongest weekends of my racing career. Cadwell Park is a circuit that means a lot to me, I remember being there as a child watching my dad race and to have such a successful event there myself is an amazing feeling. My qualifying performance is continuing to develop, but I’ve made a real step in the races. My pace is improving and I was quicker at Cadwell Park than in any previous season, which is very pleasing. I’m now regularly competing with the best drivers in the Masters class and pushing towards the top-10 in the races. I owe a big thank you to Rob Boston and the team for their incredibly hard work, I’ve also been learning from my teammate Will Blackwell-Chambers and I’m hoping to continue my progress in the coming rounds. This weekend also puts me in a strong position in the championship, and I’m looking forward to getting back on track at Donington Park next month.”Rob Boston: “Watching George at Cadwell Park was impressive. He found the perfect lines and pushed the #69 Mazda to its limits. Those victories were not just wins; they were a display of true racing craft. George is coming into his own in the Mazda MX-5 SuperCup, and this weekend was solid proof of that. We’re both eager and ready for our next outing at Donington in September, where I believe he’ll continue to turn heads and collect accolades.”
